Celebrate Native American Heritage Month with Wisdom of the Elders:

This month Wisdom continues its statewide film screenings and will be hosting one here in Portland at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry next Monday, November 13th. We hope you, our colleagues, friends and relatives, can join us for this special free event which commemorates Native American Heritage Month.

Native Wisdom Film Screening and Community Consultation

Monday, November 13th at 7:00pm, doors at 6:00pm
Oregon Museum of Science and Industry — Empirical Theater, 1945 SE Water Avenue, Portland OR 97214

Please plan to arrive early for an opportunity to meet Gerry RainingBird, Wisdom’s new Executive Director. Gerry has 29 years of experience working in Native American communities throughout the country. Welcome Gerry!

Doors open at 6:00 pm, films start at 7:00pm sharp
Snacks and refreshments from 6-7pm with Rose High Bear and Gerry RainingBird
This community event is free and open to the public

We will be screening the following films:

Native Wisdom: People of the Oregon Coast
Native Wisdom: People of Oregon’s Interior
Both produced and directed by Larry Johnson — Lawrence Johnson Productions
Executive Producer: Rose High Bear
With assistance from Wisdom’s film production team, Tim Burgess (Paiute, Shoshone) and Kunu Dittmer-Bearchum (Northern Cheyenne, Hochunk).

Native Film Academy Emerging Filmmaker Adrienne Moat

We will also screen the short documentary produced by emerging Native filmmaker Adrienne Moat and acknowledge her for accomplishing her first film titled “TEK 101: Wisdom from the South Wind.” She participated in Wisdom’s second annual Native Film Academy which was held in Portland this summer and was led by Tim Burgess, Kunu Dittmer-Bearchum and Joseph Colina (Cherokee).
